Illegal war

It needs to be said in plain English that Army Capt. Humayun Khan got exactly what he had coming to him.

Khan was killed in 2004 by an Iraqi patriot defending his homeland from an illegitimate and criminal invasion, an unprovoked war of aggression against a country that had neither attacked nor threatened to attack the United States.

The U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq was a war crime. Not merely a mistake, or a question of bad or counterproductive policy. Not merely a “dumb war.” Those who engineered it, and all those who participated in it (on the U.S. side) are, to a greater or lesser degree, war criminals.

Apparently there is no one left in today’s Democratic Party with enough intellectual or moral clarity to point that out.

Hillary Clinton ran the most despicably right-wing campaign in modern Democratic Party history, stacking the convention with a Gold Star family, a retired general, a former CIA director, and a big-city chief of police.

Yet for the sparsely-educated Protestants who inhabit the American Heartland, she is still associated somehow with “The Left.”
