SV grad charged with homicide

PITTSBURGH — A Seneca Valley High School graduate is wanted on homicide charges in connection with the death of his 20-year-old ex-girlfriend.

Pittsburgh Police are investigating the death of Alina Sheykhet, 20, a University of Pittsburgh student who was found dead in her Oakland apartment Sunday.

The cause of her death was ruled to be blunt force trauma.

In a news release, Pittsburgh Police asked for the public’s assistance in locating Matthew I. Darby, 21, of Greensburg.

Criminal homicide, felony burglary, flight to avoid apprehension, theft and possessing instruments of crime charges were filed against him Tuesday, according to online court records.

He formerly lived in Cranberry Township and played basketball for Seneca Valley.

Anyone who can help the police locate Darby is asked to call the violent crime unit at 412-323-7800.
