Scoop's sizzling on the grid

My wings are hot.

I’m hot wings.

In the last two weeks, I’m 21-2, including a nearly perfect 10-1 run last week.

This hot stretch as raised my season record to 47-16.

Let’s see if I can keep that train chugging along.

On to the picks:

Central Catholic 35, Butler 14 — The Golden Tornado have played tough against some of the tougher teams in the section this season.

This will be a challenge for Butler. I think the Tornado will compete well, but the Vikings will pull away.

Bethel Park 26, Seneca Valley 22 — The Raiders have been hard to get a finger on this season.

They fell behind big last week, made a furious comeback, only to lose.

Seneca Valley will give a solid Bethel Park team a fight.

Knoch 24, Indiana 11 — The Knights have hit a rough patch of late, but they should rebound this week.

Thomas Jefferson 32, Mars 13 — The Planets are coming off a disappointing loss to New Castle.

I wouldn’t put it past Mars to rebound in a big way this week, but I have to go with TJ.

Freeport 29, Apollo-Ridge 20 — The Yellowjackets have the firepower to win this key section clash.

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic 32, Laurel 14 — The Trojans have thrown the ball better than any team in the Butler County area this season.

Quarterback Zack Rocco already has 17 touchdown passes and 1,195 yards through the air.

North Catholic will air it out again and get a victory against Laurel.

Karns City 39, Clarion-Limestone 26 — Dalton Beham’s emergence has turned a shaky start for Karns City into what is looking to be another typical Gremlins’ season.

Clarion-Limestone is a solid team, but Karns City and Beham should roll up enough points to hold off the Lions.

Brookville 41, Moniteau 19 — This could be a high-scoring game.

The Warriors don’t really want that, however.

Punxsutawney 34, Union/A-C Valley 17 — The Falcon Knights certainly have the offensive firepower to keep up with the Chucks.

It’s just a matter of if they can execute. If they can, this could be a close game.

Slippery Rock 22, Lakeview 6 — The Rockets were shut out for the third time in six games last week against Grove City.

The defense, though, was strong again.

Slippery Rock’s offense will get it together enough in this one to win comfortably.

Grove City 32, DuBois 17 — The Eagles are soaring behind a stockpile of talent on both sides of the ball.

DuBois is a staunch opponent, but someone from Grove City will step up and lead it to victory.

Summit Academy 25, Shenango 20 — Don’t sleep on Summit. The Knights are quietly having a solid season.
