Butler wins in overtime
Justin Stewart headed in a goal off a set piece taken by Tate Mohney with two minutes remaining in the second overtime as Butler's boys soccer team edged Pine-Richland, 2-1 Thursday night.
Mohney scored a goal early in the first half.
Andrew Chwalik earned the win in net for Butler (3-1, 2-0).
Slippery Rock 2, Sharon 1 (OT) — Jack Allen scored six minutes into overtime to lift the Rockets.
Ryan Davey scored the first goal of the match for Slippery Rock (4-2, 2-0) before Sharon tied it with 12 minutes remaining in regulation.
Knoch 5, Armstrong 0 — Miah Smith scored a hat trick in this section victory for the Knights (3-1-1, 2-0).
Seneca Valley 5, North Hills 1 — Caleb Cekella scored a pair of goals to lead the Raiders (2-1-1).
Louis Newell, Jackson Wotus and Seth Winters also scored for Seneca Valley.
Girls Volleyball
Sarah Armahizer dropped 13 kills and tallied 11 service points as Knoch made quick work of host New Castle, 25-6, 25-5 and 25-4.
Bethany Nulph added 19 service points for the Knights (5-0, 4-0).
Shaler 3, Butler 1 — Maria Lucas totaled 10 kills and 23 digs, but the Golden Tornado fell on the road by scores of 19-25, 25-21, 14-25 and 18-25.
Sophia Sacriponte had six kills and five digs for Butler (3-1, 1-1).
Cranberry 3, Moniteau 0 — Emma Bair had five kills and five blocks for the Warriors, who lost to the Berries by scores of 25-4, 25-12 and 25-17.
Cambrie Campbell added 20 assists in defeat.
Slippery Rock 3, Titusville 1 — Madison Chechak had 11 kills and Annika Peale added nine kills for the Rockets in a 25-18, 25-10, 23-25, 25-16 win, Slippery Rock's third in a row.
A-C Valley 3, Forest 0 — Cassie Schwalm had 24 points, six digs and three kills in the Falcons' 25-1, 25-3, 25-2 win.
North Clarion 3, Union 0 — Frankee Remmick and Vanessa Reddick each had six kills for the Damsels.
Karns City 3, Brookville 1 — Alyssa Stitt had 16 kills as the Gremlins won 25-22, 8-25, 25-23, 25-19 in this match from late Wednesday.
Emily Hegedus added six kills for Karns City.
