Hotel project update

Springhill Suites eyes Nov. 1 start

The Marriott Springhill Suites will tentatively open Nov. 1, it was announced at Thursday’s Redevelopment Authority of Butler County meeting.

The hotel is under construction. J.S. Capitol, which is in charge of the project, reported that the hotel’s retaining wall and fence have been installed.

The company also reported that 60 percent of the painting on the first floor is finished, while the process of installing fire sprinklers is 90 percent done.

The exterior concrete project will begin within the next few weeks.

Sixty percent of the drybars and vanities in rooms have been installed, with more set to arrive by the end of July.

Plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and electrical work also are in progress.

The 76-room hotel at the corner of McKean and Jefferson streets is part of the $13.2 million Centre City project. Next to the hotel is the Centre City Parking Garage, a four-floor, 239-space structure.
