Suspect in child's death arraigned 1 day early
A Butler man, charged with homicide in connection to the death of a 4-year-old child, was arraigned in Butler County Court on Monday.
Keith Jordan Lambing, 20, was arraigned before county Judge Timothy McCune on charges of felony criminal homicide, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with serious bodily injury, rape of a child, rape of a child with serious bodily injury, aggravated indecent assault of a child, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children, and one misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person in connection to the death of 4-year-old Bentley Thomas Miller on March 21. He also was arraigned on a felony charge of criminal attempt to escape after an incident on March 28.
Chief Public Defender Kevin Flaherty said due to security concerns, Lambing, who was scheduled to be arraigned today, was in court Monday.
“In a case like this, the main thing is security,” he said.
Flaherty said his office is moving the case forward, but there is “still a long, long way to go” before the case proceeds to trial.
Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger previously said his office is seeking the death penalty against Lambing.
Lambing was charged by Butler Township police related to injuries that investigators say caused Bentley's death, and were inflicted while Lambing was baby-sitting the boy at the Super 8 motel on Route 8 in Butler Township.
