Jeep deadline draws near

The annual Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival is slated for June 9 to 11 at Cooper's Lake Campground and downtown Butler.

The registration deadline for the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival is fast approaching.

The festival, which is slated for June 9-11 at Cooper's Lake Campground and downtown, is looking for more Jeep owners and volunteers to register and make the event a success.

Those who would like to register their Jeeps early must do so by May 7.

This also is the deadline for volunteer registration, and the festival is in need of more help.

“We do have a lot of volunteers from the Butler area who do not register Jeeps and just like to get involved,” said Patti Jo Lambert, festival director.

She said every year the organizers need all the help they can get and often find themselves short handed.

“Volunteers are needed to help make the festival a success and to continue to attract Jeep owners from across the nation,” a festival press release said.

Volunteers will receive a T-shirt and admission for themselves and a guest, but they must commit to a minimum of five hours and can select the days, times and positions they prefer.

To register a Jeep or as a volunteer, go to BantamJeepFestival.com or call 724-256-4050.

This year, the event has added a few new activities.

There will be a Jeeps on the Rock Trail Ride involving a four-mile off-road trip.

This activity does not require special equipment.

The other event, Babes of Bantam Trail Ride, features female drivers learning off-road skills taught by experienced female instructors.

That activity is already sold out.
