Jack Protivnak

Project helps organize items at St. Paul

Jack Protivnak, 18, of Butler was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on Feb. 26 at a court of honor ceremony with Troop 6 of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Butler.

Jack cleaned and reorganized the maintenance room at St. Paul while adding storage and building dollies for the nativity display. He organized the cleaning of the memorial pavers and the rectory patio outside the church while building window well covers for three of the Glenn Hall windows.

Having earned 41 merit badges, Jack has been active in scouting since kindergarten. He earned his Arrow of Light in 2011. He attended summer camps at Camp Agawam, Camp Bucoco and Camp Powhatan in Virginia.

Jack had been elected to various positions within Troop 6, including chaplain’s aid, webmaster, assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant senior patrol and senior patrol leader. He became a member of the Order of the Arrow and participated in the National Youth Leadership training as a participant and staff member.

Jack will graduate from St. Joseph High School in Natrona Heights in June and will attend the University of Pittsburgh this fall. He is the son of Larry and Marlene Protivnak.
