Bednar, Cannon pitch no-hitter in Mars' victory

Will Bednar and Doogie Cannon combined for a no-hitter as the Mars baseball team blanked Obama Academy 10-0 in five innings Wednesday afternoon.

Dylan Rotz had a big day at the plate for the Planets with a double, two singles and three RBI.

Jack Anderson also chipped in a pair of hits and two RBI for the Planets (3-2, 2-0).

Rebecca Fennell hit her first two career home runs, a grand slam and a three-run home run, to lift Freeport to an 18-1 rout of East Allegheny.

Ali DeJidas and Tori Radvan also homered for the Yellowjackets (5-0).

Ashley Schmidt struck out eight in three innings to pick up the win.

Girls Lacrosse

Cassie Buzzelli and Jaden Pasquinelli each scored four goals as Mars rolled past Vincentian, 19-4.

Latrobe 10, Freeport 4 — Cameron Lindsay scored a pair of goals and Cassie Suran stopped 23 shots in goal in the Yellowjackets’ loss.

Chrissy Conklin and Hannah Bowman also scored goals for the Yellowjackets.

Track and Field

Roman Davidson and Dalton Anderson each won multiple events as the Moniteau boys cruised to a 106-44 win over North Clarion.

The Warrior girls also rolled, 101-49, on the strength of multiple wins by Alazia Greaves, Samantha Hall, Emma Bair, Kendall Grossman and Cambrie Campbell.

Grossman won three individual events for Moniteau.
