Moniteau girls roll to big win

Kristina DeMatteis scored 28 points and also added 11 rebounds as Moniteau downed Union 68-42 in high school girls basketball action Tuesday night.

The Warriors (19-3) jumped out to a 16-2 lead on the Damsels (6-14) in the first quarter.

Alazia Greaves added 11 points for Moniteau, which will play North Clarion at 6 p.m. Friday at Clarion University in the KSAC girls championship game.

Lexey Shick paced Union with 18 points.

Hockey

Noah Raymundo had a hat trick after just two periods and scored four goals total as Mars routed Fox Chapel 9-4.

Tom Schall also had a pair of goals for the Planets (7-9-2), who peppered Fox Chapel (0-18) with 53 shots.

Westmont Hilltop 6, Freeport 0 — The Yellowjackets (8-9) were blanked and outshot 31-19.

Freeport trailed just 2-0 after two periods, but was outscored 4-0 in the third.
