Baby delivered at car dealership

A Harrisville couple's baby was delivered Monday without warning while they were at a car dealership.

Adam and Amanda Sherman had no idea baby Heather Lynn was ready to come.

Amanda Sherman said she went to the bathroom upon their arrival at the Cochran Nissan of South Hills along Route 19 not expecting a delivery.

However, she said within minutes, she was delivering her daughter.

Following instructions from an Allegheny County 911 dispatcher to tie the umbilical cord, Adam Sherman used his boot lace to do the job.

Mother and daughter were taken by ambulance to Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC in Pittsburgh. They returned home today with a clean bill of health.

The couple said they still are reeling from Monday's events. Adam Sherman said the surprise was not when the delivery occurred, but how quickly it happened.
