Express care center open for patientsWEXFORD — Allegheny Health Network Express Care now is open at the Wexford Health and Wellness Pavilion, providing walk-in appointments for anyone who require treatment for minor injuries and illnesses.It is open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Care is provided by certified registered nurse practitioners, who are able to write prescriptions.Additionally, Express Care has access to the Pavilion’s diagnostic and imaging services.Health needs covered include flu, colds, ear and sinus infections, headaches and migraines, and rashes.

Health system adds new physicianDillon Stein, DO, recently joined the Butler Health System medical staff, specializing in palliative care.Palliative care focuses on improving the quality life and providing comfort and compassion to people with serious, chronic and life-threatening illnesses.Dr. Stein earned his undergraduate degree from Alfred University and his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency and chief residency at Western Pennsylvania Allegheny Health System in Pittsburgh and completed a hospice and palliative medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.He is a certified osteopathic physician and has passed the American Board of Internal Medicine exam.Stein will see patients on a referral basis with Butler Health System’s Palliative Care program.

Dollar Tree reports weak sales growthNEW YORK — Dollar General and Dollar Tree both reported weaker-than-expected sales figures Thursday, as struggling lower-income shoppers spent less at the rival stores.Dollar General said a cut in food-stamp benefits in several states kept its customers away. Sales at stores open at least a year, a measure of a retailer’s health, rose 0.7 percent in its second quarter, below market expectations of a 2.7 percent increase.
