Lois Schirra

Lois (Cooley) Schirra, 59, of Richland Township, Gibsonia, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016.

She was the devoted wife for 37 years of Dr. Vince Schirra; the loving mother of Nathan S. Schirra of Shadyside and Rachel E. Schirra of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; the beloved daughter of Kenneth and Patricia (Hoover) Cooley of Cranberry Township; the dear sister of Barbara Moore of Cranberry Township and Kenneth (Mary) Cooley of Maryland; the daughter-in-law of Edythe Schirra and the late William Schirra; and the sister-in-law of William A. Schirra Jr., Michael (Lola) Schirra, Anne (James) Baker, MaryJo (Rich) Raddock, Daniel F. Schirra, Martin (Debbie) Schirra and John (Laurie) Schirra. She also is survived by many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in rehabilitation science, Lois worked beside her husband as a chiropractic assistant at Schirra Chiropractic in Gibsonia for many years.

A wonderful wife and caretaker to her children, she most of all loved spending time with family and friends and she had the most infectious laugh.

Lois was an avid reader, a dedicated soccer mom and enjoyed vacations at the beach, especially Assateague Island, Md. She and her husband also were active with Rich-Mar Rotary, where she was a Paul Harris Fellow.

SCHIRRA — The family of Lois (Cooley) Schirra, who died Saturday, July 23, 2016, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Schellhaas Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Richard Church with the Rev. Thomas A.
