The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department will host events this week at Alameda Park in Butler Township.

Monday Movies in the Park will show “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” at 8:30 p.m. Monday on the big screen at the Masonic Shelter. The movie and popcorn will be free.

The free Family Summer Concert Series will feature the rock ’n’ roll band Muddy Creek at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Odd Fellows Gazebo.

School Daze will feature South Butler and Freeport schools Wednesday at Alameda Waterpark. Students will receive half-off admission by wearing clothing with their school name or logo or by presenting school identification. Different schools are featured weekly.

A Bug Safari will start at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Shelter 2. Take a large mouth jar with a lid to catch and release bugs. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The free Outdoor Discovery Series will host a naturalist from Moraine State Park when he presents “Bats in Action” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Carousel Shelter.

A superhero and princess party will be from 8 to 10:30 p.m. July 30. Participants will meet Batman, Spiderman and the cast of “Frozen.” Snow cones will be available during a screening of “Frozen.”

[naviga:h3]Rettig family reunion scheduled[/naviga:h3]

The 53rd Adam Rettig Sr. family reunion will begin at 2 p.m. July 31 at the Rotary Shelter at Butler Memorial Park, 100 Memorial Park Drive.

Chicken, meat and beverages will be provided.

Take a picnic basket, table service, small gifts for prizes and an envelope containing a few dollars.

Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. followed by a brief business meeting, a raffle, bingo and other games.

[naviga:h3]Whitmores will gather for reunion[/naviga:h3]

SHIPPENVILLE, Clarion County — Descendants of Samuel and Nannie Whitmore will have a family reunion at 1 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Clarion County Park, 41 Clarion County Park.

Chicken, beverages and tableware will be provided.

Attendees should take a covered dish and a wrapped gift for children or adults for a white-elephant sale. Attendees may take lawn chairs.
