LATROBE, Pa. — A new U.S. Postal stamp and local cancellation mark memorializing one of Latrobe’s claims to fame was recently unveiled by Mayor Rosie Wolford and other officials.

The 47-cent “forever” stamp depicting a banana split is one of five in a series called “Soda Fountain Favorites” that was illustrated by a New York City artist.

A Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission marker proclaims Latrobe as the home of the “first documented banana split.”
