Thunderstorms knock out power across county
Thunderstorms this morning have knocked out power to hundreds of people across Butler County, according to two electric utility providers.
Outages for West Penn Power customers in Cranberry Township and Butler city were the most widespread, according to the company’s website. The company reports that shortly before 11 a.m. more than 200 households in Cranberry Township and nearly 100 households in Butler city were without power. The company also reported outages in Brady, Butler, Center, Penn and Worth townships, and Chicora, Portersville, Slippery Rock and West Liberty.
In total 391 households served by Penn Power were without electricity, the company reported. Many of the outages were expected to be resolved by 1:30 p.m. or 2 p.m., according to the company’s website. The outages in Cranberry Township were expected to be resolved by 7:30 p.m., according to the company’s website.
The company serves more than 80,000 households in Butler County.
