Jeepers can enjoy Mystery Road Rally

Hundreds of Jeeps will line up at the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival, receive a few directions and then begin exploring roads that take them off the beaten path.

It’s all part of the fun that Jeepers experience as they participate in the Mystery Road Rally.

The event was first held in 2012 and organizers received such positive feedback that new routes are created and additional elements added each year.

New in 2016, participants can earn bonus points for taking selfie photos at notable places of interest on the routes and posting them on social media sites.

As participants follow directions along scenic roads, they are given clues and asked to answer questions. Scores are calculated when the Jeep owners turn in their answer sheets, and those with the highest total points on each route win.

Rally organizers created three new routes for this year’s festival that will take participants between one and a half to two hours to complete. The three routes take participants to these areas:

Route 1: Zelienople – Harmony – Evans City

Route 2: Butler

Route 3: New Castle

“This activity is one that families really enjoy doing together,” said Patti Jo Lambert, festival director. “It enables them to explore the area and have fun searching for things along the way. Kids like to compete to see who can answer the questions first.

“It really is a lot of fun and a great way to spend some quality time together.”
