The driver of an SUV, which struck this Chevy Cruze from behind causing it to flip onto its roof, was injured in the two-vehicle crash Monday morning at Route 173 and Duffy Road in Slippery Rock Township.

SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle accident late Monday morning at Route 173 and Duffy Road.

According to witnesses, both vehicles were headed south on Route 173 shortly before noon when the driver of a Chevy Cruze slowed or stopped to turn left onto Duffy Road.

The driver of a GMC Yukon, which was behind the Chevy, struck the car. The car flipped onto its roof, while the sport utility vehicle ended in the middle of the road.

According to Chief Ken Taggart of the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company, both drivers were women. Taggart did not know their identities.

State police did not have an accident report available this morning.

Taggart said the driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital. The driver of the car was out of her vehicle by the time firefighters and police arrived.

Both vehicles, which had minor to moderate damage, had to be towed.
