[naviga:h3]Old Stone House plans open house[/naviga:h3]

BRADY TWP — To kick of the 2016 summer season, the Old Stone House will host a “Community Open House” from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of the Old Stone House, located in northern Butler County at the intersection of Routes 8, 528 and 173.

Visitors will be able to tour the Stone House, sample open-hearth cooking, speak with historical re-enactors and try their hands at period crafts such as butter churning and candle dipping.

Other attractions will include firing and drill demonstrations by Civil War re-enactors from the 63rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry and live music from a variety of historical periods.

The event is free.

[naviga:h3]Jennings to host kids programs[/naviga:h3]

BRADY TWP — Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, will host a series of programs for children this summer. These hands-on learning experiences will introduce children to fun and healthy outdoor activities and instill an appreciation for the natural world.

To register, call Jennings at 724-794-6011. June 3 is the deadline for payment.

Three age-specific programs will be offered: Hide-N-Seekers for ages 4 and 5, Outdoor Explorers for ages 6 to 8 and Penn’s Adventurers for ages 9 to 12.

[naviga:h3]Club to hold button bonanza June 4[/naviga:h3]

BAKERSTOWN — The 2016 Annual Button Bonanza, a collectible clothing button show and sale sponsored by the Keystone Button Club, will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 4 at Bakerstown United Methodist Church, 5760 William Flynn Highway.

Admission is free and lunch will be available for purchase.
