Cool Time at the Pool

The former Alameda Pool was renamed Alameda Waterpark after extensive renovations last year.
Season opens June 4 at Alameda Waterpark

BUTLER TWP — Butler County residents soon will be able to swim and soak at the Alameda Waterpark.

The park, which is on Alameda Park Road off New Castle Road, opens at noon June 4.

Gary Pinkerton, director of county parks and recreation, said roughly 47,000 people used the park in 2015.

“We’re just looking for another great season,” Pinkerton said.

The former Alameda Pool was renamed last year after extensive renovations.

Among the new additions were tube slides, diving boards, a children’s spray area and zero entry pool areas for toddlers.

The water park also has a climbing wall. A new concrete deck for the pool was installed.

Pinkerton said the renovations were a hit with pool users.

“We got a lot of good feedback,” he said. “We became a destination pool.”

The park offers group swim lessons, private swim lessons, adult swim lessons, a competitive swim team, lifeguard classes, CPR classes, moonlight swims, family fun nights, private pool parties and birthday party packages.

Waterpark membership passes may be bought at the parks and recreation department office in Alameda Park.

During the 2016 season, the water park will be open noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Sunday, weather permitting.
