Teachers vote to extend deal
PITTSBURGH — The union representing Pittsburgh public school teachers and other employees says members have voted overwhelmingly to ratify extensions to the contracts with the Pittsburgh School District through June 2017.
The Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers said the professional unit contract was accepted by a nearly 8-to-1 margin. The union said the paraprofessional unit contract was accepted by a more than 12-to-1 margin, and the technical-clerical unit contract was accepted unanimously.
