Ruth Orene Brady Letke

Ruth Orene Brady Letke, 83, of Dog Patch Lane, Emlenton, Scrubgrass Township, passed away Friday at the home of her daughter in Emlenton.

Ruth was born May 18, 1932, in Luzerne, Pa., and was the daughter of James Isaac and Pauline Lena Jacob Brady.

She was a 1950 graduate of Luzerne High School.

Mrs. Letke was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Emlenton. She was a member of The Women of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America), and was currently serving on the church council.

She enjoyed crocheting lap robes and afghans for the Lutheran Home at Zelienople. She was a longtime and well-known volunteer at Books Galore at the Crawford Center. She was an avid animal lover and was especially fond of dogs. Ruth's family would like her to be most especially remembered for being a loving and dedicated homemaker and mother.

Ruth was married in Menges Mills on Dec. 10, 1950, to Robert V. Letke, who preceded her in death Oct. 10, 2000.

Surviving are six children, Karen Rider and her husband, Al, of Indianapolis, Ind., Susan Uhleman and her husband, Richard, of Fort Myers, Fla., Jane Aiken and her husband, Larry, of Wrightsville, Nancy Hovis and her husband, Tom, Robert Letke and his wife, Lisa, and William Letke, all of Emlenton; a brother-in-law, Emil T. Letke, of Emlenton; 13 grandchildren, Mark, David, Kristina, Isaac, Ryan, George, Jamie, Christine, John, T.P., Curtis, Zane and Lori, as well as a number of great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her aunt, Isabel Eustice.

LETKE — Friends of Ruth Orene Brady Letke, who died Friday, April 29, 2016, will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the Hile Funeral Home, 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton.A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Emlenton, with the Rev. Deborah K. Jacobson, church pastor, officiating.
