Endowment seeks biggest Day of Giving

The Endowment for Butler County is looking to have its biggest Day of Giving yet.

Thanks to donations, including those from XTO Energy, NexTier Bank and Snyder Brothers, the organization will have at least a $20,000 match pool for Tuesday's Day of Giving.

That is when donations made to 51 organizations in Butler County will be matched by the endowment.

The $20,000 marks the largest match pool in the endowment's three years of participation in the Day of Giving, which is in its seventh year.

Amy Beiler, the chairwoman of the endowment, said the match pool may increase based on if and how much the organization funds its own match pool.

“That's exciting to me,” Beiler said. “I donate to the foundation's pool. Our board members are sponsors. They're in on this, too. They feel really good about this.”

XTO Energy contributed $5,000, while NexTier Bank and Snyder Brothers donated $2,500 each.

“It's just a way of supporting all 51 organizations, and we think it's really cool that they got behind it,” said Patti Ann Kanterman, an endowment board member, of those three companies.

Day of Giving runs from 8 a.m. to midnight Tuesday. Those who wish to give to those 51 groups can go to butlergives.org and donate with a Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card.

A 5.99 percent fee will be taken out of the donation to cover Pittsburgh Foundation's credit card and technology costs. The Pittsburgh Foundation is handling the donations for the Endowment for Butler County.

Donations will be matched on a prorated basis. While there is no limit to how much a nonprofit can raise, the match pool is capped at $1,000 per organization.

Last year, $96,000 was raised for county organizations on the Day of Giving.

Beiler is pleased with the number of groups and agencies participating in the Day of Giving.
