Derek M. Scott, 18, of Butler was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout Sept. 23, 2015 and was recognized Nov. 12, 2015.
He is the son of Daryl and Michelle Scott of Butler. He is a member of Troop 6 of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Butler.
For his Eagle Scout project, Derek helped the game commission by building and replacing bluebird boxes in Moniteau’s state game lands. He used GPS location techniques to place boxes he built from scratch and replace previously placed, outdated boxes.
Derek earned 32 badges over his 12 years in scouts. He earned the position of assistant senior patrol leader and was twice a senior patrol leader. Derek also achieved membership of the Arrow of the Light.
Derek attends Butler High School and Butler County Vo-Tech and is set to graduate this year. He plans to pursue a career as a machinist following high school, and he is still considering attending a trade school.
