CWNC reaches semis
Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic needed to get going if the Trojans wanted to reach the WPIAL Class A semifinals for the fourth straight year.
Bishop Canevin went ahead by six in the third quarter on a 30-yard scoop-and-score by Jake Reddy.
North Catholic quarterback Erick Taylor responded with two touchdown passes that served as a knockout punch in the Trojans' 49-20 win Friday night at Deer Lakes High School.
The Crusaders, who are 7-3, took a 20-14 lead following Reddy's recover. Taylor responded with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Khalil Weathers and 26-yard strike to Vashon Grahm to put the Trojans ahead 28-20.
Taylor threw another touchdown pass to Dom Serventi and Mario Latronica and Keith Wells each scored on rushes to put the game out of reach.
The second-seeded Trojans (11-0) will take on No. 2 seed Jeanneatte in the semifinals next Friday at a site and time to be determined.
