Mars nips Freeport in soccer

Spencer Hnath and Caleb Break both scored goals Saturday at Freeport to help the Mars boys soccer team post a 2-1 victory.

The Planets moved to 8-0 overall, 7-0 in Section 2-AA.

Patrick McNulty, who has scored in five straight games, tallied the lone goal for the Yellowjackets (4-5, 3-4).

Slippery Rock 4, Commodore Perry 0 — Matt Dempsey and Luke Barnhart both scored twice to help the Rockets improve to 5-2.

North Allegheny 1, Seneca Valley 0 — The Tigers took down the Raiders (6-1-1, 5-1-1) in Section 2-AAA action.

Girls soccerNorwin became the first team to score on Mars, handing the Planets a 6-1 road loss.Mars fell to 7-1.

FootballJosh Greene scored on a 22-yard run for Summit Academy to help the Knights prevent a shutout during a 35-8 Allegheny Conference loss to Valley Saturday at home.The Vikings built a 26-point halftime lead against the Knights (0-4, 0-4).
