Stempler 65th anniversary

Lou and Jean Stempler

Lou and Jean Stempler of Harrisville celebrated 65 years of marriage with a family dinner in Grove City.

Stempler married the former Jean Hartman on July 25, 1950, in Pittsburgh.

They have eight children, Lou Stempler of Moon Township, Allegheny County, Linda Peterson of Florida, William Stempler of Butler, Stephen Stempler of Bethel Park, Susan Alvin of Ellwood City, Mark Stempler of Bonaham, Texas, Beverly Evans of Harrisville and Sharon Walko of Ellwood City.

They also have 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Stempler owned the L.J. Stempler Co. for 40 years. He was a locksmith and also repaired lawn mowers and chain saws. He played steel guitar in a country band and is a World War II veteran.

Mrs. Stempler worked at a five-and-dime store on Pittsburgh’s north side and later at Ames Department Store in Pittsburgh.

The Stemplers owned Checker gas station in Warrendale. The couple is retired.

The Stemplers are Catholics.
