Scouts earn eagle
Cole Greer, 16, the son of Dean and Andrea Greer of Valencia earned his Eagle rank on Jan. 28 and passed his Court of Honor on May 3.
Cole began in 2005 in Cub Scouts, and he moved up to Boy Scouts in 2010 to Troop 403. He earned 31 merit badges.
In his troop, Cole held positions as librarian, chaplain’s aide, scribe and quartermaster. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow, and attended the 2013 National Jamboree. He also participated in the 2014 National Youth Leadership Training Camp.
For his Eagle project, Cole refurbished a baseball field and built outdoor benches for MHY Family Services. He pulled weeds, leveled the field and refinished the benches and bleachers.
Cole will attend Mars High School as a junior this year. He hopes to go to college and pursue an interest in U.S. history.
SV senior now Eagle Scout
Kendall Rusnak, 17, the son of John and Susan Rusnak of Cranberry Township, earned his Eagle rank on Jan. 28 and passed his Court of Honor on May 3.
Kendall started in Cub Scouts Pack 457 of Zelienople. He moved into Boy Scouts Troop 403 of Cranberry Township. He has earned 32 merit badges.
In his troop, Kendall held positions of assistant senior patrol leader, scribe and webmaster. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow and earned a 5-year Pipestone Award from 7-Ranges Scout Camp. As a Boy Scout, he attended two National Jamborees. In July, he served as crew leader on a 39-mile trek at Philmont Scout Ranch, N.M.
For his Eagle project, Kendall renovated an existing outdoor classroom at Connoquenessing Valley Elementary School. He repaired and refinished student benches and added landscaping.
Kendall will attend Seneca Valley High School as a senior, planning to attend college to pursue a chemical engineering degree.
