HARMONY — A film star will visit the borough soon to shoot a movie.

Ewan McGregor, star of such films as the “Star Wars” trilogy, “Trainspotting” and “Moulin Rouge!” will make his directorial debut for his film “American Pastoral,” and will shoot two scenes in the borough.

Both scenes are scheduled to be shot in Harmony on Oct. 5.

The Scottish award-winning actor also will star in the movie alongside Jennifer Connelly and Dakota Fanning.

A representative from Lakeshore Entertainment, the film’s production company, on Tuesday talked with borough council about the movie.

“The directors (including McGregor) and I have been driving all around Western Pennsylvania looking for what they believe would be the perfect iconic town that would symbolize from a previous era” said Lakeshore representative Jason Calabro, a Pittsburgh native. “They of course have fallen in love with your town.”

The film is based on the Pulitzer-Prize winning novel by Philip Roth.

Lakeshore Entertainment has produced such films as the “Underworld” series, “The Lincoln Lawyer” and “Million Dollar Baby.”
