Man flown to hospital after fall

JEFFERSON TWP — A man was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in a helicopter after falling about 20 feet from a tree Wednesday afternoon.

Saxonburg Fire Chief Chris Ballina said the 911 call came in at 2:21 p.m. for an accident at 199 Great Belt Road.

The man was part of a crew from Asplundh Tree Expert Co. that was cutting down and trimming trees on the property, he said.

He was unconscious after the fall, Ballina said.

“When he came to his speech wasn’t 100 percent. He was confused, so they were worried about a head injury,” he said.

Saxonburg Ambulance and Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company responded.

State police in Butler said Wednesday they were not investigating the accident.
