Harris 100th birthday
Cora Smith Harris of Cabot, formerly of Aliquippa, celebrated her 100th birthday.
She was born May 10, 1915, in Palmetto, Ga. She married twice and was widowed twice. Her late husband was Fred L. Harris.
She has two sons, James and William, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She also cared for 21 foster children.
Harris was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She was one of the few black women to work as a welder for American Bridge, Ambridge, building landing ships used in World War II.
