SV hands Rockets 1st baseball loss

Seneca Valley reliever Corey Laskey came on in the seventh inning to douse a Slippery Rock rally, recording the final three outs in the Raiders’ 6-3 baseball victory on Saturday.

It was the first loss of the season for the Rockets (10-1), who entered their final at bat trailing 6-0.

Bobby Archey singled, doubled, scored a run and drove in one for SV (8-4).

Danny Williams and Josh Bowser both had two hits for Slippery Rock.

Track and Field

Moniteau’s Gabby Stewart earned two first-place medals, winning the girls’ 100 and 200-meter dash at the Franklin Track and Field Invitational.

Her effort included times of 13.14 and 27.36 seconds, respectively.

Also earning victories for the Warriors were Maura Kimmel in the girls’ discus (115 feet, eight inches) and Brendon Stamm in the boys’ shot put (45-3).
