Cranberry company to lay off 47 workers
CRANBERRY TWP — The Market Day location in the township will lay off about 43 people in early March.
The permanent layoffs will affect workers in the sales staff. The site will remain open.
The layoffs are happening because of a restructure of the sales operations, according to a company letter sent to the state Department of Labor and Industry to comply with the federal Workforce Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
The letter, which is dated Jan. 7, said the company anticipates that roughly 43 people will be laid off about March 7.
Market Day, based in Itasca, Ill., sells food fundraising programs to schools.
