SRU men hike streak to 5 games

The Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team sunk Kutztown’s seven-game winning streak Saturday at Keystone Arena.

With a 73-69 win, The Rock extended its winning streak to five games in PSAC crossover action. SRU (9-2, 5-1) held a 36-32 lead at halftime.

Frank Holloway led The Rock with 19 points, while Antonio Butler (16) and Kelvin Goodwin (15) also finished in double figures.

Cornelius Brown registered a double-double, finishing with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Women’s basketball

Two free throws from Advia Campbell and one from Jenna Altomare gave Kutztown enough offense to eke out a 64-62 win over SRU at Keystone Arena.

The Rock (5-5, 1-5) erased an 18-point second half deficit to tie the game at 60 on two Erica Aiello free throws with 1 minute, 2 seconds remaining.

SRU has now lost three straight. D’Asia Chambers and Taylor Siggers scored 26 and 17 points for The Rock, respectively.
