Lisa Metcalfe to run for county commissioner

CRANBERY TWP — The daughter of state Rep. Daryl Metcalfe is running for the Republican nomination for Butler County commissioner in the May primary.

Lisa Metcalfe, 28, lives in Cranberry Township with her husband. A 2004 graduate of Seneca Valley High School, Metcalfe works for PharmBlue in Warrendale, although she travels nationally and internationally for her job, according to her news release.

The political newcomer labels herself as a “true conservative” and someone who will “bring real solutions to the issues we all face today.”

Much like her father, who’s been a state representative since 1999, Lisa Metcalfe said she will run on a platform advocating for lower taxes, efficiency in government and improving infrastructure for job creation.

Metcalfe has volunteered for her father’s campaigns since she was 11, giving her an insider’s look at the art of politics and campaigning. She also has volunteered in her father’s legislative office.

The news release Thursday afternoon said Metcalfe was inspired to run for office after the “nationwide Republican sweep” in November’s elections.

Metcalfe earned a bachelor’s degree from Duquesne University and a master’s in business administration from Point Park University.

She is the second Republican to announce her candidacy after Larry Thompson of Oakland Township previously declared.
