Board OKs gymnasium project
BUTLER TWP — The Butler School Board approved a $165,500 improvement project Monday night to reinforce trusses and replace a column at the high school gymnasium.
The Multi-Metals Co. of Greensburg will do the work. Reinforcements to the trusses were done incorrectly in the 1998-99 school year, and this project will correct that.
The gym will be off-limits to students and events while the work is done, from Oct. 3 to Nov. 13.
During that time, workers also will remove a column that is in the middle of the auxiliary bleachers. Instead, two other columns off to either side will be added to replace that column, removing the obstruction.
