Butler School Board hires new assistant superintendent

BUTLER TWP — The Butler School Board on Monday night hired a new assistant superintendent of elementary education.

Mary Wolf was approved for a five-year contract beginning July 1 at an initial salary of $120,000 a year. While her appointment was unanimous, members Bill Halle and Jim Keffalas voted against her contract terms.

Member John Conrad said the split vote is because of a disagreement in pay. Before the vote, he said some members of the board wanted to pay her less.

Wolf is the principal at Clarion-Limestone Elementary School in Clarion County.

She received her doctorate in educational leadership from Indiana (Pa.) University, and her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Clarion University.

She will replace Carolyn Cornish, who retires at the end of June.
