Santa will make first stop Nov. 22

He returns to Cranberry

CRANBERRY TWP — The annual visit by Santa and Mrs. Claus, which marks the start of the township’s holiday season, will be 7 p.m. Nov. 22 in front of the Municipal Center, 2525 Rochester Road.

Activities surrounding their visit will begin at 6 p.m. with family activities, games, crafts and refreshments in the building. Holiday music will be provided by the choir of the Dutilh United Methodist Church.

The event also will launch the 2013 Cranberry Holiday Tree Gallery inside the building, an annual fundraising project where more than 20 nonprofit organizations display smaller trees decorated in themes that reflect their missions.

Arriving on a specially-outfitted fire truck, Santa will greet residents, throw a switch lighting the community tree on the center’s front lawn and then head back to the North Pole for more holiday preparations.

Individual visits of children with Santa will not take place until Santa’s return on Dec. 14 and 15. Registration for “Milk and Cookies with Santa” on one of those dates must be made in advance with the parks and recreation department. A fee of $14 per child and $11 for Cranberry residents is payable at the time of registration.

To register, contact the township parks and recreation department by phone at 724-776-4806, Ext. 1129, or online at www.cranberrytownship.org/programs.
