SLIPPERY ROCK — Bulk trash pickup in the borough will be Friday.

All items should be bagged, tied or boxed, and nails should be removed from building materials. Large amounts of building materials and refuse from remodeling or renovating will not be accepted.

Items should not be put curbside more than 24 hours in advance of the collection, and any containers should be removed within 24 hours following collection.

Items should be placed no more than six feet from the curb.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Team's fish dinners will continue Friday, as well as March 22 and 29.The dinners include fish or chicken, fries or cheesy potatoes, coleslaw, a roll, dessert and a drink.The cost for the dinners, held at the fire hall at 162 Elm St., are $10 for adults and $6 for children younger than 8 years old.Delivery and takeout are available. GROVE CITY — Area children, from toddlers to 10-year-olds, are invited to start their Easter celebrations early by joining residents and staff at Trinity Living Center for a free Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. March 23.Participants will be divided into age groups and should bring their own basket or bag. Three-year-olds and younger children will hunt for eggs indoors in the home's main dining room, while the older children will hunt for eggs outside. In the case of inclement weather, all of the egg hunters will be searching indoors.A total of more than 1,000 eggs will be hidden inside and outside the home. Hundreds of coupons from area restaurants will be hidden in some of the eggs. Plenty of prizes will be awarded, including a special prize for those egg hunters who find a golden egg. SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University's council of trustees on Friday voted to increase several student fees.The recreation services fee will increase to $110 per student, per semester. It had been $87 per semester since 2002.Council voted to increase the residence hall fee by 2 percent. The increase means a $34 per semester increase for students living in a double room.The meal plan fees were increased by 2.5 percent. The increase will add $38 per semester to the 14-meal plan, and a proportional amount to the 19-meal and 10-meal plans.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The monthly community dinner will be held March 21 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Center Presbyterian Church, 211 Center St.The menu this month is sloppy Joes, potato salad, veggie sticks and ice cream sundaes.The dinner is free and open to all.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University's Student Counseling Center has been reaccredited by the International Association of Counseling Services.The SRU program was evaluated by IACS against its standards of counseling practice and was “found to offer competent and reliable professional services to its clientele,” according to a letter granting the reaccreditation sent to Carol Holland, director of the SRU center.

SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — The bridge carrying Kiester Road over Slippery Rock Creek will close at 7 a.m. April 1 for a replacement project.A posted detour will be in place until the bridge is replaced. The new bridge is expected to open before the end of August, weather permitting. The detour will use Kiester Road to Route 8 to Branchton Road to Route 308 and back to Kiester Road.This $1.5 million bridge replacement project will be constructed by Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College.
