BUTLER TWP — Federal money will pay for a full-time nurse practitioner at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Dr. William DiCuccio, Sunnyview medical director, said at the board meeting Thursday that Medicare awarded UPMC a federal grant, which will be filtered down to facilities such as Sunnyview.

DiCuccio said the nurse practitioner will examine residents and will help to educate other caregivers.

“It’s an exciting thing,” he said.

DiCuccio said Butler Memorial Hospital will benefit because the new position should cut down on the readmission of Sunnyview patients to the hospital.

He said the funding should pay for the job for more than a year.
