No verdict in DeWeese trial

HARRISBURG — The jury in state Rep. Bill DeWeese’s corruption trial broke for the weekend after failing to reach a verdict Friday, leaving the once-powerful Democrat’s future uncertain.

The panel huddled in the jury room for most of Thursday and all day Friday before Dauphin County President Judge Todd Hoover dismissed them until Monday, at their request.

For the second day in a row, the panelists asked to review a transcript of the former longtime House Democratic leader’s 2009 testimony before a state investigating grand jury.
