Strand to show Super Bowl on big screen

ZELIENOPLE — The Strand Theater will broadcast Super Bowl XLV Sunday evening on its 25-foot screen, HD digital projector and 45-speaker surround sound.

Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Additionally, the nonprofit theater group this weekend will screen the film adaptation of the award-winning, one-man play, “The Chief,” about Steelers owner Art Rooney and starring Tom Atkins.

Admission is $5 per person to attend the Super Bowl showing. Herbe’s Z-Town Cafe will offer a half-time buffet.

Admission for the movie is $5, but $4 for those at least 60 years old.

Screen times for “The Chief” are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday.

Those attending the Sunday screening will have the option to remain for the Super Bowl broadcast for another $3.

The movie “Night at the Museum,” which was scheduled to be shown this weekend, has been rescheduled to Feb 18 to 20. “The Cannonball Run,” originally scheduled for that weekend, will be moved to another date.
