Muddy Creek Township garage ruled ‘total loss’ following afternoon fire
MUDDY CREEK TWP — A garage in Muddy Creek Township was deemed a total loss after a fire broke out Thursday afternoon.
Multiple crews responded shortly after 1:30 p.m. to a vehicle fire inside the garage at a property along the 100 block of Albert Drive. They arrived to find the structure in flames, according to Harmony Fire District Assistant Chief Justin Hart.
There were no injuries. However, Hart said there was significant property damage that included an older car, a minivan, tractors and other small equipment. Hart also said it was unclear what started the fire.
Firefighters contained the blaze to the garage preventing any possible damage to the property owner’s house 40 to 50 feet away.
A second call confirmed the fire had spread through the roof of the garage, according to Butler County Emergency Services dispatch.
“We called for the second alarm pretty quick and got some additional tankers,” said Hart, who noted there were no immediate fire hydrants in the area.
Portersville-Muddy Creek Township, Prospect and Wurtemburg-Perry Township volunteer fire departments; Harmony Fire District; Slippery Rock and Cranberry Township volunteer fire companies; and Portersville-Muddy Creek Township EMS responded.
