North Catholic holds on, 18-17
North Catholic built an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter, then held on for an 18-17 football victory at Blackhawk Friday night.
The Trojans (3-0) won for the third consecutive week in Beaver County, though this one was a struggle.
Kyle Tipinski's 38-yard touchdown pass to Jason Siket and Daniel Long's score on a blocked punt helped North Catholic build that lead. But the Cougars came storming back.
When Zach Ours scored his second touchdown of the night — a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter — and Blackhawk completed a pass for a 2-point conversion, it trailed only 18-15. The Cougars added a safety to pull within a single point.
Blackhawk missed a field goal attempt late as North Catholic survived.
The Trojans won their first two games this season by scores of 62-0 and 41-0 over Hopewell and Ambridge, respectively.
Ridgway 42, Moniteau 14 — The Warriors dropped this road game after not playing last week due to COVID-19 issies.
Matt Martino rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown while David Dessicino ran for 34 yards and a score for Moniteau. The Warriors were limited to 34 yards passing.
Defensively, Hunter Stalker forced a fumble. Colton Thomas had a team-leading eight tackles and recovered a fumble. Martino added seven tackles.
Moniteau hosts unbeaten Karns City next Friday.
Slippery Rock at Titusville, ppd. — This game was called off earlier Friday due to COVID-19 concerns at Titusville.
Boys Soccer
Nick Dellarosa scored four goals and added an assist Thursday as Knoch defeated Armstrong, 7-1.
Caleb Oskin added three goals and two assists for the Knights. Orrin Milcic contributed two assists.
