Central Electric Cooperative urges members to conserve energy Tuesday
A demand peak period is anticipated
Central Electric Cooperative is asking its members to conserve energy Tuesday, particularly between 1 and 7 p.m.
According to a Tuesday morning press release, customers should conserve power by turning off all non-essential electric items and setting the air conditioner at a minimum of 78 degrees.
To further assist, members are encouraged to move use of dehumidifiers, pool pumps and other electric appliances to hours outside of the peak period of 1 to 7 p.m.
"By decreasing electricity used during high-demand periods -- when prices are at their highest -- everyone can help stabilize future power costs for all members," the release said.
