In Brief

[naviga:h3]County YMCAs will reopen Monday[/naviga:h3]

After closing its facilities March 17, the Butler YMCA will reopen its Butler and Rose M. Schneider YMCA branches Monday with regular facility hours. The reopening will be conducted under the guidance of state and local health authorities and will take place in phases.

“The Butler YMCA has served Butler County for almost 135 years, during which we have made it through many challenging times together, none perhaps as impactful for our community and our Y as this COVID crisis,” said Dave Hilliard, YMCA president/CEO. “We are thrilled to begin reopening our facilities, welcoming back our members and the community, and getting back to what we do best — helping everyone reach their full potential.”

In preparation for reopening, the Butler YMCA has been consulting state and local guidelines to ensure all components of facilities, including fitness equipment, locker rooms, child care, visitor areas and office spaces, are meeting the highest standards for health. The YMCA has also modified policies and programs to facilitate social/physical distancing practices.

According to Hilliard, the first phase of reopening will include wellness centers, pools, sauna, steam room and locker rooms.

Additional phases of reopening will include in-person personal training, swim lessons, group exercise classes, child watch and youth sports programs.
