A former detective in the Butler County District Attorney’s Office pleaded guilty Thursday to federal charges of filing a false loan application and filing a false income tax return.

Scott Roskvoski, 51, was charged along with his wife, Stephanie, 50, last April for embezzling $1.3 million from Butler Health System. On Wednesday she pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud and one count filing a false income tax return. In return, prosecutors dropped 40 additional related charges.

As part of his plea agreement with prosecutors, Scott is facing 24 to 30 months in prison, along with paying restitution to the IRS of at least $250,001 and no more than $500.000 and he will have 50 percent of his prison salary, if he is sentenced to prison, for repayment of any fine to the court. The court ultimately gets to decide prison sentence and restitution. Stephanie faces more than four years in prison and potentially more than $2 million in combined fines, fees and restitution as part of her plea deal. He is on a payment plan with S&T Bank.

The Center Township couple was accused of defrauding the health care system between 2011 and 2017 while Stephanie Roskovski was employed as the chief operating officer for BHS. Assistant United States District Attorney Carolyn Bloch prosecuted the case.

Scott Roskovski will be sentenced on Oct. 6 and his wife will be sentenced on Oct. 5.
