DETROIT — Music artist Lizzo brought lunch to staff at a Michigan hospital, expressing gratitude for their services during the coronavirus pandemic, according to hospital officials.

In a Twitter post, Henry Ford Hospital officials announced that the Detroit native provided emergency room personnel with a meal, The Detroit News reported.

“We did everything we could to keep it safe for y'all. ... I love you guys,” Lizzo said in a video posted online. “Thank you so much for being the heroes in this story. And we're staying inside and we're praying and thinking of you guys every single day. God bless you.”

Lizzo won Best Pop Solo Performance, Urban Contemporary Album prize and Traditional R&B Performance at 62nd Annual Grammy Awards in January.

BEVERLY HILLS — The Elton John-led starry benefit concert that featured Billie Eilish, Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys on Sunday has raised nearly $8 million to battle the coronavirus.The musicians performed from their homes for the hourlong event that aired on Fox and iHeartMedia radio stations. The money will go to Feeding America and First Responders Children's Foundation.Other performers included Tim McGraw, H.E.R. and Sam Smith, who sang “How Do You Sleep” in a cappella form. Dave Grohl sang “My Hero” from his studio in Hawaii, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong strummed his guitar to “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” while Camila Cabello sang “My Oh My” from Miami with a guitar assist from beau Shawn Mendes.Procter & Gamble donated $500,000, which Fox Corporation matched. YouTube, is streaming the concert on iHeartRadio's YouTube Channel.———

NEW YORK — J.K. Rowling is hoping a dash of Harry Potter will help families confined to their homes during the coronavirus pandemic.The author has launched an online initiative, www.harrypotterathome.com, which features quizzes, games and other activities. For the month of April, Rowling also has partnered with the audio publisher-distributor Audible and the library e-book supplier OverDrive for free audio and digital editions of the first Potter book, “Harry Potter's and the Sorcerer's Stone.”Rowling's British and American print publishers, Bloomsbury and Scholastic, will contribute materials to the Potter web site and to their own web sites.“The teachers, parents and carers working to keep children's lives as normal and happy as possible while we're all on lockdown deserve a bit of magic,” Rowling said. “I hope these initiatives will give children and even adults a happy distraction during their enforced stay-at-home time.”
