Break-in follows suspected DUI crash
A suspected drunken driver is accused of breaking into an apartment building after a hit-and-run crash in Butler.
City police arrested Shaddi J. Shanaa, 26, of Lyndora a short time after the alleged series of incidents early Friday.
District Judge Wayne Seibel arraigned Shanaa on a felony charge of trespass and misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence. He also was cited for hit-and-run and driving with an open container of alcohol.
Police began the investigation after a man called 911 around 2:20 a.m. and identified Shanaa as having wrecked a car into a sign and fence on Race Street, authorities said. The caller, who knew Shanaa, said he saw the crash.
Moments before the wreck, according to the 911 call, Shanaa had been drinking at a nearby bar. But that’s not all the caller told the dispatcher.
