SAXONBURG — Three Knoch High School seniors and members of Boy Scout Troop 58 in Valencia recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. All spent their early scouting years together in Cub Scout Pack 51.

Cole Travis is the son of Kevin and Maria Travis of Cabot. Cole’s project name is Hickory Creek Trail Eagle Scout project. He reblazed a 13.4-mile trail, moved and cut brush on and around the trail, and installed two new signs.

Michael Kohl is the son of Jim and Laurie Kohl of Saxonburg. Michael’s Eagle project was to construct about 200 feet of “Bog Bridges” for the walking trail at Glade Run Lake in Valencia.

A “Bog Bridge” is a series of short-span bridges close to the ground over an obstacle or wetland area. This allows the public to enjoy the natural beauty of the Glade Run Trail, regardless of the weather conditions.

Justin Tristani is the son of John and Kathy Tristani of Butler. For Justin’s Eagle Scout service project, he led a group in constructing a porch swing and creating a pathway with wheelchair traversable (ADA compliant) mulch for a physically disabled priest at Holy Sepulcher Church in Valencia.
